WHY postpartum Photography?

You know those moments when you're snuggling up with your baby or toddler, breathing in their freshness, soaking up that connection, and wishing with every fibre of your being that you could press pause? If only you could just hold onto a little piece of that sweetness, so you could take it out years later and remember how soul-crushingly intoxicating and exhausting and overwhelming and exhilarating and world-changing it all is, long after it's gone?

Well, that's why.

These moments are all-consuming. We give everything of ourselves, sometimes without even being certain that we will survive to see the other side of this season, and that is a love that deserves to be documented. It's a story that deserves to be told and retold so we can see that, yes, though it can be messy and exhausting, postpartum is also so beautiful.

What is postpartum?

Often when we hear the word postpartum we think of those first few days and weeks after our babies are born:

The sleepless nights and cluster feeding; tender bottoms and teeny babies; bottle warmers and nipple creams.

And yes, that is all very "postpartum."

But it's also pre-nap milkies and skin-to-skin snuggles. It's rocking them to sleep because they still fit in your lap, and showering with them because they're still very much an extension of you, and sometimes they really just *need* that closeness still.

And so do you.

And that's very much postpartum, too.
